yesterday evening, my sweet dusty went to be with Jesus. we aren't exactly sure what she died from, but she was dealing with several issues that could have been what led up to it (but ultimately think it was probably cancer). she had bad allergies, causing terrible ear infections, which caused her equilibrium to be unbalanced. she never full recovered her balance from these bad ear infections. a vet told my parents that she may have a brain tumor that is causing the balance issues, but that was ruled out about a month ago when she went to the vet for another ear infection. my mom mentioned that someone told her before she could have a tumor, but when the vet watched her walk, she decided it had to be in her hip. after lots of xrays she found that dusty's hip bone (the ball) had deteriorated quite a bit, which could be the explanation for why she couldn't walk right. these last few weeks dusty seemed more tired and less active than usual, but we didn't think too much of it. yesterday, she was shivering and panting all in the same afternoon and finally my mom layed with her on the couch and tried calming her down, when she started to have some what of a seizure. while mom talked to her, she wagged her tail, took a few deep breaths and licked away mom's tears. she took one last really deep breath and closed her eyes. she is now sitting between God and the arm rest of the throne, her favorite thing in the world to do. i will miss my sweet sister, but i know she is no longer in pain and will never have to deal with painful ear infections again.
i love you dusty, the puppy! you were one in a million. we're all going to miss you so very much, but "when we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be!" see you soon sweet girl.
