my amazing husband and my wonderful mom planned a surprise party for me the night before my birthday (which i also like to think of as a small celebration for finishing school that day). i was so oblivious to all the obvious things that happened that whole day. the first thing i should have been suspicious about was when i woke up from a little nap, i went up to cory's room to get my phone, which was charging. my mom was up there, and had been since before i fell asleep, standing in front of colton's room. so i thought that was weird and asked her what she was doing (she was blowing up balloons in the bathroom between their rooms) and she starts talking about wanting to put shelves in colton's room and i was like, "oh, ok yeah i think that'd would be a good idea"..totally oblivious. then, chance randomly wanted to go to the mall at 5pm, which he never, ever, ever, wants to go anywhere at that time of day because of traffic, so that should've been major obvious, but did i pick up on it? no. i just complained the whole time, and walked through the mall as fast as i could. so since i wouldn't take my time, chance HAD to go look at guitars at guitar center, but since i was being a baby, i waited in the car. well, little did i know, chance had gone inside and called my mom and said that i was throwing a big fit about wanting to go home, etc. so she calls me and acts like she's just seeing if we wanted to meet them for dinner. meanwhile i am venting about how i am so annoyed that chance has dragged me to the mall and i just want to go home (i found out later my mom was doing everything in her power to stifle her laugh at this point)..totally oblivious. and the final, and quite possibly the funniest and biggest DUHH, was when we got to the restaurant (which has floor to ceiling window, no curtains) i said something about that the car we parked next to looked like cory's (chance's brother). then we got closer to the restaurant and i look right over the 38490583 balloons sitting on the table, only to see chance's dad. so i said, "oh my gosh, your parents are here", chance has a huge smile on his face (so i'm still thinking, oh he invited his parents to have dinner with us). we are about to walk in the door for my big "surprise" and it clicked. DUHHHH kristin!!!!! enjoy the pictures..
then, when we came back to euless, we had a fun dinner at benihana with our new friends from church, matt and belinda (my dfw bff!), who's birthday is december 16.
